“I start with the fibre itself. I experiment with it. The fibre then forms my design. I try to make pieces that magnify the fibre’s best traits, rather than sourcing fibres to fit an idea. I consider my process a partnership”

About

Zoe Jones creates art of its own genre. She uses her knowledge of traditional woven and rug hooking practises and explores them in a unique and contemporary way, constructing pieces in unusual geometric shapes and dimensions using innovative, sculptural processes.

Zoe sees her relationship with fibre as a partnership, thoughtfully sourcing interesting, beautiful or striking materials with equally innovative artistry. The fibres she selects with love evoke a creative response in varied forms which also demand new ideas, resulting in centrepiece works of quality art which will be treasured by their owners for decades to come. Her fibres are consciously sourced from creative Australian small businesses and are either recycled or natural where possible.

Zoe has a BA in communication and has a history working in graphic design, illustration, props making for Film/TV & more predominantly producing vfx/animation content for feature films & advertising agencies alike. A life working in these varied creative endeavours has culminated in these one-of-a-kind, memorable, compositionally asymmetrical yet balanced works of art full of character and charm.

Zoe Jones’ work has been shortlisted for art prizes, featured in people’s homes, restaurants and public venues as well as in a number of magazines, including Art Edit and Home Beautiful.
